Obsesionado por tener músculos de concurso, Romario Dos Santos Alves, mejor conocido como el ‘Hulk humano’, estuvo a punto de perder sus brazos por inyectarse una sustancia que además de engrosarlos, los estaba atrofiando.

Resulta que el peculiar brasileño, conocido por su inminente pero a la vez deforme musculatura, constantemente se inyectaba Synthol, una sustancia compuesta de aceite mineral, alcohol y petróleo que le provocaron severos problemas en su organismo.
Luego de las advertencias de los médicos, el joven de 26 años, dejó de usar la sustancia a la que ya se había hecho adicto, y de medir 65 centímetros, sus músculos se deshincharon como un balón y ahora luce como todo hombre normal.

Si lo tomas una vez, te aseguro que habrá una segunda. Recuerdo que el médico me dijo que tendrían que amputarme los brazos. Me dijeron todo lo que había dentro: mis músculos eran roca”, reveló el ‘Hulk humano’.
Pero tras recuperar la normalidad en su cuerpo, Dos Santos Alves detalló que su esposa condicionó su decisión y lo amenazó con abandonarlo si no ponía fin a su deseo de ser conocido mundialmente como Hulk Humano.

Father-of-one Romario Dos Santos Alves, 25, used the potentially lethal cocktail to pump up his biceps to 25in and he now faces a catalogue of serious health issues. The former bodyguard said using the synthetic filler synthol cost him his sanity and nearly his life as he tried to kill himself when his wife was six months pregnant. He said his swollen muscles terrify children in his hometown of Caldas Novas in Brazil and they call him a ‘beast’ and a ‘monster’. ‘If you take it once there will definitely be a second time - it’s addictive,’ he said. ‘I remember the doctor told me that they would need to amputate both arms - they said everything in there, all my muscles, were rock. Mr Alves became obsessed with the drug after moving from his hometown to Goiania in Brazil three years ago. He said: ‘I saw some really big guys in the gym with huge arms and I started to make friends with them. ‘They introduced me to synthol and I got excited about the results - I lost control.’ Soon the filler began causing him constant pain and he almost suffered kidney failure due to the toxins in the oil. And he was told by a doctor that his only course of action would be to have one of his arms amputated. ‘I remember the doctor told me that they would need to amputate both arms. They said everything in there, all my muscles, were rock. ‘It was either that or cut all of my muscles out. ‘And then thank God the doctor told me that they did not have to amputate - they could instead remove the synthol rocks which had formed in my arms.’ Now Romario’s bizarre appearance generates mixed reactions from people in his hometown. He said: ‘One time I was working in a catholic church and a woman came up to me and said that her 12-year-old daughter wouldn’t come in because she was afraid of me.
